The easiest way to have more fruits and veggies is by adding them to smoothies. My go to smoothie is banana smoothie which I love to have as a pre or post workout drink. 💪🏻 . To make it I use Dayfresh Lactose Free Milk, bananas and cinnamon powder as it's a super food and so good for health. I sometimes add dates as well or/and chia seeds depending on whether I have them on hand but this is the basic recipe. It's sugar free and tastes so good and super duper quick to make!🍌 . Raising awareness regarding breast cancer is a cause that's close to my heart due to the fact that I personally know people in my circle of family and friends who have been through it or are currently fighting the disease. . I got to attend this really fun Bloggers Meet Up organized by Shangrila at Ramada Creek Hotel. . Books are food for the brain they say but being a foodie I take that quite literally and end up buying books related to food too. 🤷🏻‍♀️ . I've been slowly but surely coming towards a healthier lifestyle which includes the choices I make regarding food, lifestyle and my overall well being. This reflects in my choice of books as well which is why I ended up buying these from the Big Bad Wolf book fair. . Rules to live by . The experience of going to the emergency ward a couple of times for one health reason or the other; witnessing the demise of some close family members; seeing my mother being diagnosed with a serious medical condition, going through it together as a family and having to experience all of this in the span of 2-3 years has made me realize, more than ever, how precious life is and how short it is at the same time. . With each passing day, I'm starting to realize how precious my time and energy is and I must use it wisely. I'm also starting to realize that no matter how wisely I try to spend my time by spending it with my loved ones, fulfilling my responsibilities, being productive and learning and utilizing new skills, it will never be enough, that the attempt to please everyone will always be futile. No matter how hard I try, there will always be people who complain. So the only thing to do is to do my best without any expectations and to do it only to please Allah swt. . I have no time or energy for drama and toxic people. I would much rather spend my time with people who truly care about me and cherish my company. I am so blessed to have people around me that truly love me and care about me Alhamdulillah. . Once I'm gone, I only want people to remember me in good thoughts and feelings. None of us are perfect beings, neither are we going to live forever and that alone should be reason enough for us to let go of any grudges, misunderstandings and ignore shortcomings. . I was invited to a food tasting at the launch of this new restaurant at Port Grand called Akbari Nihari. . Being a fan of Desi food and Nihari, in particular, I was really curious to know what this restaurant has to offer to the Karachi food scene, especially since there are not a lot of options in terms of Nihari when it comes to fine dining. . The Mughal theme of the invitation card reflects in the restaurant itself. As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted with servers dressed in traditional Mughlai attire who hand out roses and wet towels as soon as you’re seated. . We were also served with these really unique kehwa shots that we particularly enjoyed. . The ambience of Akbari Nihari fits the name and reflects royalty in terms of decor but is cosy at the same time. . Apart from different variations of Nihari: Darbari, Shahi and Lajawab, the menu has a variety of other traditional dishes to choose from such Haleem and Qorma and traditional desserts such as gulab jaman and kulfi. . We placed an order for Darbari Nihari which is plain beef Nihari. The Nihari was served piping hot along with the condiments (ginger, lemons, green chillies and coriander) within 15 minutes with naans fresh out of the tandoor. . Akbari Nihari is a perfect place for a special dinner with family and friends or to give a dawat to a special guest or somebody who’s visiting from abroad to try the flavoursome, exotic taste of Nihari in a royal setting. . Overall, I’d give Akbari Nihari 4.5 out of 5. I really enjoyed the whole experience of dining at Akbari Nihari and the ambience made it really special since Nihari in Karachi is mostly served in a very casual setting. . Is it just me or all the great ideas that you can possibly think of come up at the oddest times. When you're in bed ready to slip into dream world, when you're in the loo, when you are not in a position to write down your idea aka driving, carrying things, etc etc and tell yourself "Oh this is such a brilliant idea, why didn't I think of this before? No way will I ever forget it." and Bam! That's exactly what happens...you forget it. Agh! 🤦🏻‍♀️ . Does this ever happen to you? . .
