St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Gel Cleanser Review

Hello Everyone! I hope all of you are having an awesome weekend!

This review is part of my top 5 favourite beauty products:

Top-5-Favourite-Beauty-Products

So let’s get started:

Lilac Prose Reviews St. Ives Green Tea Cleanser

St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Gel Cleanser deep cleans to gently remove dirt and makeup while helping to maintain skin’s moisture balance. Salicylic acid treats and prevents breakouts, while natural green tea prevents redness and glycerin nourishes skin to keep it soft and smooth. For a brighter complexion, use St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Gel Cleanser with Blemish Control Green Tea Scrub.

My thoughts:

My skin is on the oily/combination side, but it tends to get super oily at its own wish which inspired my wedding make up artist, Bina Khan to express “U.S. will invade your nose girl.”

It gets more on the combination side in winters though, where my T-zone becomes oily and at the same time my nose gets dry and flakey (it’s weird I know). I need a good daily moisturizer to fix that (let me know in the comments below if you have any suggestions ^_^).

I get occasional breakouts (they tend to show up during special occasions, hence occasional T T), it’s not as bad as it used to be when I was a teenager though. I’ve tried many cleansers over the years but St. Ives Green Tea Cleaner is one product I keep going back to. I’ve actually hit bottom of 2 or 3 bottles of it. I ran out of my last bottle which is why I haven’t taken a photograph and used photoshop instead to show the product.

Since it contains salicylic acid, I’ve noticed that every time I use it my skin clears up without drying out (since it contains glycerin also). It’s paraben free and non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) due to which it prevents breakouts as well. Although, it doesn’t dry out my skin when I use it sparingly twice a day (morning and night), I know I’ll end up drying out my skin if I use it any more than that.

It’s a gel that foams up when you rub it in your hands, pretty easy to apply and wash off and you only need a little bit to get the job done. I don’t use make up very often but when I do I make sure I thoroughly remove it before using a cleanser so I can’t really say if it removes make up effectively but it does leave my skin squeaky clean otherwise.

As far as the fragrance is concerned, I’m not a huge fan of it and wish it wasn’t there but then again I prefer my products to be fragrance free, especially since my husband is super sensitive to fragrances. However, the fragrance goes away after a little while so I’m not too bothered about it.

Pros:

Free of animal derived ingredients
Not tested on animals
Contains salicylic acid, hence treats acne
Paraben free and non-comedogenic, hence prevents breakouts

Cons:

Not too travel friendly, since it’s in a pump bottle
Strong fragrance but it’s a not a big con for me

Will I recommend this product to a friend?

Absolutely! I’m currently using a different cleanser since I ran out of it and wanted to try something different in my never ending search of something better but I’m definitely going back to this one.

Where is it available:

I’ve seen it in most big stores in Karachi like Agha’s, EBCO, Naheed, Ami’s, etc.
