Writers block + Instagram updates!

Hi guys! I’m sorry I’ve been MIA for a while now. I’ve been busy with a few design projects I’ve taken up (I can’t wait to share them with you once I can). Plus things at home, still in the adjustment phase of ‘ze married life’ you see ^_^. It’s all good though, all part and parcel of growing up…or growing old (I’ve spotted a few grey hairs and I’m not even 30 yet…Gasp! Is this a cause for alarm??

Nah…I don’t think so. I’ll just dye my hair purple if it bothers me too much at some point.

I’ve also been focusing on other social media platforms, Instagram in particular. I absolutely love how Instagram works. Okay…hold up before you roll your eyes and say “Woah…she’s so fast and up to speed with social media” insert sarcasticist emoji of your choice, let me tell you I did have a private Instagram account that I used occasionally, maybe like 3.5 times a year. However, I’m so much more engaged with it because I’m using it for my blog and it’s so much fun! I mean I’m putting myself out there but it’s so much more than what biscuits I’m dunking in my chai at the moment (I do that too every now and then though).

If you’re new to Instagram or just somebody who wants to take it up a notch then I would definitely recommend being a part of a blog hop! It helps a ton! If you want to know more about this, do let me know in the comments below. Oh…also have you followed me on Instagram yet? Here’s my twitter handle: lilac.prose

Please do if you haven’t already and it’ll make my day so much brighter like how it gets when Brian takes NZT on Limitless…

Have you seen that show? Omg…I’m currently hooked on it and can’t understand why it was cancelled but that maybe calls for another post.

I’ve also been facing a bit of a writer’s block. No…not the kind that occurs due to the absence of ideas…I have loads of those Alhamdulillah! Masha’Allah! In’sha’Allah (for when I actually get down to writing them down 😇). It’s the kind of writer’s block that happens when you just can’t get around to writing stuff. There’s so much I want to put out there but I get overwhelmed with the number of ideas I have plus managing time to actually executing those ideas. How do you guys manage blogging and writer’s block? Please share some tips! My biggest problem is being inconsistent. Must. Fix. That. That being said, I have a few posts lined up for you that I can’t wait to post!

That brings this mini update to an end. I hope you have a fantastic evening (night?  day? Depending on where you are ^_^) Bye for now!!

  1. Firstly, wishes to you on your married life. About the writers block, give it sometime and take a break. It’s okay, it happens. Instagramming is fun. You can insta and blog with your photos and fill the gap, when are having the block. 😛

  2. I did not realise that was writer’s block. I have been having the same problem. I have so many Ideas and lots of interruption from family members. What I have done so far is to make a heading for each Idea and saving them in my blog as a draft. Because I cannot decide which article to start first I have been jumping from draft to draft which is not productive. Then in between that, I have been doing everything else but write, telling myself I need to check all my social media accounts, yet again or I need to fine tune my blog instead. Before I know it the days gone. Yeah, I guess I have writer’s block. I am new to social media, I am enjoying it, I am hoping I will get into some sort of routine when I get the hang of it. I would like to know more about the blog hop so please get in touch. That’s another thing I need to get used to, social media jargon. bump up, hashtag, meta its all new to me. But I don’t mind learning.

  3. It’s funny to read this because I’ve been meaning to join instagram for a while now, but I’m a little scared of doing so because I still don’t really understand it. Your post has spurred into looking into it though.

  4. I say embrace the various activities which form the process of making your written products. Reading, thinking, imagining, walking, experimenting…. Not all writers put pen to paper (or type) during the same time slot every single day. Some of us are phase writers. So maximise your writing routine when you are in a writing phase, and similarly maximise other activities when you do those. Insha’Allah you can establish a good morning routine of prayer everyday for whatever phase you are in, to layer intentions and barakah into your developments and achievements. May Allah make you successful in pleasing Him, ameen.

  5. Congrats on your marriage- I had this same issue in Jan and Feb and then in March I bought those lovely a5 notebooks from Muji, and made it into my blog notes book – set it up like a bullet journal, logging ideas for posts, potential due dates, email sending dates, video uploads. Have to say it’s been one busy month but really worth it! Now I’ve so much lined up for April – hoping I can carry this momentum forward iA. Blog hop – yes please, would love to know more! 🙂
