Hello everyone! This detailed review is part of my top 5 favourite beauty products. So without further ado…
This powerful, potent blend infused with argan oil is perfect for damaged, coarse hair. Help bring your smoothness back with just a few healing drops.
My thoughts:
First a little bit about my hair…they’re not treated, not dyed, bleached, or gotten any other treatments like extenso/keratin/etc. so they’re in their most natural state at this point. I’m a hijabi, I wear a headscarf which means that my hair can become dry and frizzy and somewhat damaged due to friction (hmm…I should be wearing cotton/breathable scarves more often *note to self* ^_^). I wash my hair about 2/3 times a week, sometimes more. I’m pretty low maintenance (read lazy) when it comes to taking care of my hair, which is why I prefer investing in products that you leave in your hair and forget about while they do their magic.
One such product is OGX Argan Oil of Morocco. I’ve been using this product for more than 2 years. I’m on my second bottle now which is almost finished, the bottles are huge considering that you only need a small amount and they last a long time. The packaging it pretty straight forward, it can get a little messy if the oil spreads around the top but it’s not a big deal. Some variants of the oil come in spray bottles which I think would work better but I haven’t tried them yet.
It’s a thick oil and the way I use it is that I take a 5-rupee coin size (or dime size if you’re more familiar with that) in my palm, rub my hands together and apply the oil to the lengths of my freshly washed, t-shirt dried hair (yes, I don’t use towels to dry my hair, they get frizzy that way! That’s a tip I picked up online long ago and it really does make a difference, try it!). I never ever apply it on the roots because who wants to put oil on freshly washed scalp, right? You would think that such a thick oil would leave your hair oily, but no…it completely dries up and leaves hair gawrrrjus, no jokes! I can definitely see a difference in my hair, they’re less frizzy and more manageable.
The fragrance is pretty strong, very perfume-y, might not be too good for people who are sensitive to strong fragrances (like my husband who’s super sensitive to strong smells to the point that they can give him headaches). However, the smell does go away after sometime, leaving hair soft and smooth.
Pros:
- Does what it claims
- Lasts a long time (quantity wise and expiry wise as well – 18 months)
- Once applied, it doesn’t feel oily at all
- Doesn’t contain animal derived ingredients and isn’t tested on animals
Cons:
- Has a strong perfume-y fragrance
- Not easily available in Pakistan
- Even if it is available locally it’s a bit pricey (I’ve seen it retail for Rs.1900, which is a lot more than how much it costs abroad.)
Will I recommend this product to a friend?
I’d definitely recommend this product to a friend and I’m most definitely interested in trying out other products by OGX. I’ve heard great things about their shampoos and conditioners but I’ve never tried them myself. If you have any recommendations, please do leave them in the comments below!
Where is it available?:
I asked my brother who lives in Dubai to get it for me since it’s easily available in the Middle East but if you’re based in Pakistan and interested in trying it out, you may order it online from various Facebook pages that sell beauty products. I’ve also seen it in some stores in Karachi like Agha’s, EBCO, Naheed, Ami’s, etc.
I hope you found this review helpful. If you have any queries, comments or suggestions regarding this product or my blog, please feel free to let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading! ^_^
I’m so lazy when it comes to my hair as well hahaha. Have you tried their shampoos?
